CURRENT RESEARCH TEAM
Anika Koopman
Research Assistant/ Lab Manager
I am a senior doubling majoring in Neuroscience and Applied Social and Cultural Studies with a concentration in Health, Medicine, and Society. This is my second year in Dr. Peterson's research lab and I am interested in learning how our relationships can be impacted due to health and wellness; or lack thereof. This is especially important after COVID-19. Outside of the lab, you can find me at any of the Activities Programming Board events around campus or giving tours in my Admission's Student Ambassador blue jacket. I will be headed down south after I graduate this year to attend Sherman Chiropractic College in South Carolina!

I am a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Education. This is my second year in Dr. Peterson's research lab and I am interested in learning more about how relationships in our daily life affect the way we feel about ourselves and how we treat other people. Outside of the lab, I can be found at the rink, as I am on the Women's Ice Hockey team here at UNE. In the future, I am looking into going to chiropractic school.

I am a first-year Psychology major and plan to minor in Art Therapy and Mental Health Rehabilitation. This is my first year in the Self & Close Relationships Lab. I’ve always had an interest in understanding how relationships affect our day-to-day lives psychologically. I’m excited to see what the lab’s future research entails. On campus, you can find me at Psychology Club or studying in Windward. In the future, I am interested in practicing either clinical psychology or psychiatry, and art therapy with children.

Research Assistant
I am a sophomore double majoring in Psychology and Criminology. This is my first semester in Dr.Peterson’s research lab and I am interested in studying the importance and impact of meaningful relationships in concordance with mental health well being. I am most interested in how they might affect men, particularly men who have a hard time expressing emotions or hold a belief that men should not express sensitive emotions. When I am not in the lab, I can be found in the gym working out, going to UNE sporting events, or getting work done in the library. I am looking at becoming a forensic psychologist or a psychologist working with current and past military personnel
